From an early age, I found traditional learning environments very challenging- sitting still and focusing in class never came easily.Yet Art offered me something different: a calm, intuitive space where I could channel my energy and express myself freely.
It was through drawing, especially the human form that I discovered both joy and confidence. The emotion and complexity of the body continue to fascinate me and I carry out each piece with curiosity and intrigue.
As a woman in my 40s I feel strongly about giving a voice to the transitions and emotions that often go unspoken during this stage of life. I explore the change, identity, vulnerability and strength and change that comes with ageing, shifting roles and ever evolving self perception. I aim to create art that resonates with others navigating similar journeys- offering both reflection and connection.
I hope that what you see in my work is not only technique but the passion, joy and deep engagement that I feel in the act of creating.
Each drawing is a conversation between observation and emotion a reflection of how I experience my world through form line and movement. I create Art that explores contrasts in style and medium. My traditional pieces , crafted with charcoal pastel and graphite pencil, delve into depth and texture. In contrast my more recent digital work embraces simplicity, flat compositions with bold bright colours.
